Yarn Along

I have had quite a busy week so not a lot of time for crochet or reading, although I did find the time to finally finish About Grace, which I really did not enjoy I must learn not to get so silly about things and just give in when it is not a suitable read.  I haven't sewn the cushions together yet, it is on my to do list which is growing by the day every time I look at another Christmas book.  I have decided that this is my final project for hand crafted gifts...headbands in crackers for the ladies and key fobs for the men.

A very simple headband finished off with some delightful vintage buttons.

I loved how the book made the crackers and then did a beautiful tartan table setting, showing them off in their full glory.

Do you have crackers on the table at Christmas?

Once again joining in with Ginny over at Small Things for the yarn along.www.gsheller.com/2014/10/yarn-along-198

See you soon.

  1. Cute crochet :) We don't have crackers here in Spain, but my mom always saves some for us for when we visit England :)

  2. Your headbands will make a nice gift. We've never done crackers, although they do sell them here. Are they a noisemaker/party favor? They look festive on the table. Have a great day. Heather

    1. They are a traditional addition to the Christmas dinner table here in the UK when pulled they bang and inside they hold a small gift, a joke or riddle and a hat.

  7. We always have Christmas Crackers if Daniel (our British son in law) comes to dinner....but seems since his brother had children they tend to do dinners there for the big one, and Eve with us - which is appetizers and not a sit-down.

I have worn many a paper crown over the years though.

Perhaps I will make some and keep the tradition regardless of their coming or not this year - great inspiration, thank you!

  10. I used to make crackers when all the children and cousins were young, and fill them with Christmas candy. They make such a pretty treat to place across the dinner plates. Love the headbands you're crocheting. Very pretty gifts.

  12. Hi Mama! I love the big photos, I have started to use them on my blog too. You can adjust your blog width by looking for 'design' on the top right and side of your blog, go to template, then customise and you will see widths. If you adjust the width of your blog you can have big photos without them meddling with your side bars. it all sounds a bit geeky but it is worth it. email me if you are not sure and you want to do it. broseley@talktalk.net
Your headbands are fab by the way, they will be well received.

Thanks for always dropping by my blog. Jo x

  14. I know what you mean about a less-than-interesting book. Once I get started I feel I have to slog through. Love the headbands! And the tartan crackers are so much fun.

  15. I need to learn how to give up on a read as well. Sometimes though I have to finish and see just where the story is going.

  21. We don't had Christmas crackers in the U.S. We save our bangs for the Fourth of July, I guess. They look so pretty on the table.
